Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Dynamic Range

I found this little gem over at Digital Praxis. In this guide to the Digital Intermediate Process, basically everything you ever wanted to know about dynamic range, bit depth, resolution, color information, and preserving image quality throughout the post production chain is clearly outlined in plain English. Of all the great info in this guide, I think the most useful from a digital cinematography standpoint is the explanation of Linear space vs. Log space. This is a very complex issue and in my opinion understanding it is of critical importance for clear communication with post production and understanding how your images will be utilized in their workflow.
