Shooters Post & Transfer Wins Big at the Advertising Association of Baltimore Addy Awards Contest

Shooters Post & Transfer, one of the nation’s most comprehensive digital post production facility, took top honors recently at the 35th annual Advertising Association of Baltimore Addy competition by winning a gold and two silver Addy awards.

Shooters Post & Transfer won a gold Addy for the category of open animation or special effects for the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) “NCAA Basketball”. The open starts with a series of quick cuts on what looks like gel-based bubbles filling a blue-hued basketball court. The camera focuses on a single bubble that clearly harbors something inside. As the mass begins to shake and rise above the court it bursts open spilling out stars that fill the screen. “The message is ‘where do the stars of tomorrow come from,’” said Kris Magyarits, Creative Director for Shooters Post & Transfer.

In addition, Shooters won two Silver Addys for the MASN “Orioles Classics-Bird” bumper in the category of Promo Animation and Promo TV Self-Promotion. The piece features an animated bird swinging a bat. The image was found on a box of popcorn by Magyarits during a lengthy search of e-bay. The box dates back to the early 1960’s. Magyarits and his team animated the bird swinging a bat, connecting with a baseball to the appropriate crack of the bat sound effect. Scratch effects were also added to give the promo a nostalgic, deteriorating film look.

Speaking about the collaboration between MASN and Shooters, MASN spokesman, Todd Webster, reflects upon work produced now and in the past. “The creative video work produced by Shooters was instrumental in the early success of the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network. They were innovative and creative, and their work product speaks for itself. Not only did Shooters define the early look of MASN, but they continue to be a valuable partner in executing our on-air look and our programming promotions. They are equally adept at classic on-air packaging and cutting edge visuals.”

“It is gratifying to win these awards and be recognized by our peers for the work that we are doing,” said Magyarits. “MASN is a great client and they gave us the creative freedom to exceed everyone’s expectations.”

Technology used: After Effects, Photoshop, LightWave 3D.
